Mizuho Financial Group, one of the leading financial companies in Japan, and the Faculty of Economics jointly established an endowed Chair “Risk Management of Financial Corporations” in 2007. This chair aims at conducting collaborative research between the Mizuho Financial Group and the Faculty of Economics. The research focuses on the risk management of financial corporations. Topics include ALM, methods of managing credit risks, the use of derivatives, BIS regulations, and corporate governance. Special attention is paid to the evolution of financial regulations following global financial crises. The project is expected to produce excellent research that is of practical use. It also provides, based on research output, students with lectures on risk management.
