The Center for Advanced School of Education and Evidence-based Research (CASEER) aims to improve professional development of teachers and execute curriculum development and school improvement through evidence-based research. It has two core divisions: ¡°the Division of Global Research¡± and ¡°the Division of Evidence-Based Research.¡± There are two sub-units: ¡°the Secondary Education Unit¡± and ¡°the Higher Education Unit,¡± under ¡°the Division of Evidence-Based Research.¡±
In ¡°the Division of Global Research,¡± we have a research project on innovation for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Japan and Sweden, with an international comparative perspective (Grant-in-Aid for challenging Exploratory Research 17K18612). We consider that ¡°the ESD will empower people to change our society towards a sustainable future¡± from (1) economic, (2) socio-cultural and (3) scientific and technical perspectives, and analyze and try to theorize a new approach of such education.
¡°The Evidence-Based Research Secondary Education Unit¡± conducts panel surveys of the students and graduates of affiliated schools. The unit builds and manages a research platform that contributes to studying the effects of various educational programs in the attached schools, for the sake of evidence-based development of educational systems and policies such as those related to deep active learning.
¡°The Evidence-Based Research Higher Education Unit¡± works in collaboration with the Center for Research and Development of Higher Education at the University of Tokyo, and it analyzes relationships between the education the University of °®¶¹´«Ã½students receive in school and the one after graduation. In order to clarify the effects of the University of Tokyo's education, we analyze and verify various students-focused research.
